Often new parents reach out before [or shortly thereafter] their little one is born requesting newborn photos. While I love doing photos on a wee little one, I have discovered that I absolutely LOVE the photosessions that are around 3 months of age. Babies at this age still have that sleepy, newborn aspect to them but are more alert and able to show their big beautiful eyes and smiles = win/win. So if you’re worried that you missed your chance for a newborn shoot, don’t fret. Baby C’s recent session is here to prove that 3 month shoots are just as special, if not more so:
Those baby blues!
Not only newborns are super sleepy!
With his Grandma’s blanket!
Who’s the real baby in the family? …I think it’s clear 😉
^Outtakes…and BFFs since birth.
Such a love. See what I mean? Next time you have a baby [which I know doesn’t happen very often], make sure that you don’t beat yourself up about not rushing to get newborn photos. Sometimes the wait is totally worth it!
The couple that freezes outside during a shoot stays together.
My new mantra. It’s not often that I know the couples that I shoot before the actual shoot [even though I feel like I learn a ton about them during the shoot], but in this case, I had the pleasure of shooting my good friend Alexandra and her fiancé Anthony in Hoboken — and we had a blast. They wanted a mix of a “Hoboken feel” as well as some waterfront photography with some of the skyline in the background.
We started our engagement photoshoot in the Hoboken train station [since walking from our cars to the train station was already insanely cold we figured being indoors first was best]– and randomly found ourselves outside by the train tracks. Lo and behold, the money shot: tracks 10 & 9 — which happened to be Alexandra & Anthony’s wedding date of 10/9/15 next year. Talk about serendipity.
You’d think the rest of the shoot would downhill from that kind of high point, but I was just blown away by the rest of the shoot — most likely because they are absolutely adorable together and so photogenic.
A few black and whites in the train station whilst dodging the locals who were trying to find a place to sit and be warm was challenging, but we pulled it off! I saw the high window and couldn’t help myself — needed to capture this shot with the windows and couple:
Deciding between posting the color version or the black and white version of this image was incredibly difficult — I loved black and white too, but something about this golden light just wowed me. Aren’t they adorable?
A few more of my favorites from our shoot — it was so cold out, but Alexandra was such a trooper, even in open-toed shoes in January!
I can’t help but feature one more of the train station, because I seriously couldn’t believe our luck that morning:
Love these two, and can’t wait to attend their wedding in the fall!
When I met Mariana, I knew that we were going to get some beautiful shots – she is gorgeous! As a local Hoboken/NYC dietician, she was looking for some photographs with fruits & veggies (as cheese-less as possible, no pun intended) as well as some general portraits for her facebook page and website. Here are a few that I really liked:
Outside of Sobsey’s Produce in Hoboken. We asked if we could move the produce around!
Beautiful peeling stairs, probably not the best thing in the world for the inhabitants of the apartment, but a great backdrop for headshots.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away!
Isn’t she stunning?
Thank you so much for stopping by my new website’s blog!
I am so very excited about the new look — a BIG thanks to Mia of Local Buzz LLC who was responsible for putting together most of what you see here!
This is where I’ll post my sessions (old and new). It is my hope that these images will be aesthetically pleasing and inspiring. Primarily, I focus on children, family, maternity, portrait, and engagement photography – but I am known to do some event and product photography from time to time. For more on that, please check out my portfolio.
I hope you enjoy!
